Calcium carbonate from chicken eggshells as adsorbents

Further research is needed to try utilize calcium carbonate from chicken eggshells as an adsorbent. The use of adsorbent expected minimize the amount waste generation and reduce environmental pollution. This aims Eggshell powder was activated with 0.1 M HCl solution for 48 hours, then heated in oven at 150°C 30 minutes which enlarge pores, increase surface area, volume create new pores that will adsorption power. obtained characterized using XRD, SEM-EDS, BET BJH. Based on XRD data, it can be seen contains (CaCO3) shows a phase β-calcite symmetry. SEM data particles are almost spherical shape some form aggregate there empty space. EDS analysis concentration calcium, carbon oxygen 27.05; 15.75 56.60% respectively. results showed included type V, mesoporous category H3, presence nonrigid plates have slit-shaped pores. BJH most dominant pore sizes were diameter 33.3 36.3 Å.
